We are honored to share that Create Gallery and Frames will be featured at the Idaho State Capitol Building during the 2026 legislative session, with artwork on view (and for purchase) from January 12 through April 3.
This opportunity is more than a beautiful installation... it’s a meaningful moment for our gallery and the artists we represent. The Capitol is a space where Idaho’s history, leadership, and community intersect, and we’re proud to see fine art included in that everyday experience.
Whether you’re visiting for a tour, attending a session, or simply walking through the building, we invite you to take time to experience the work on view and connect with the artists behind it.
We really wanted to represent Idaho ourselves in the Capitol building,” shared owner Joan Edwards. “It’s an amazing opportunity to showcase our artists and their beautiful work to a completely different set of visitors.
How This Exhibit Came Together

This exhibit began with an invitation from the Capitol’s executive secretary, who was referred to us by Wendy Carver. She visited Create Gallery and Frames with a vision: to bring artwork into the Capitol’s lower-level hallways and transform the space into something more inspiring for those who walk through it each day.
From the start, the goal was clear- to feature artwork that represents Idaho. Many of the works selected are by Idaho artists and reflect Idaho’s landscapes, character, and sense of place (with one abstract piece included as a modern counterpoint). For us, it was an easy yes. We’re proud to help represent Idaho’s artists inside the very building that represents Idaho’s people.
Where the Exhibit Is Located

The artwork will be installed in two hallways on the lower level of the Idaho State Capitol Building:
One hallway located near the legislative branches, where representatives sit during session
One public hallway across from it, accessible for visitors passing through
The exhibit includes a public hallway, making it easy to view during a regular visit to the Capitol.
This layout creates a unique experience: Art displayed in both a working government environment and a public community space- emphasizing the idea that art belongs not only in galleries but in the spaces where life happens.

Featured Artists
This Capitol exhibit showcases artwork from five artists:
Nina Sloan
Thomas Van Stein
Alejandra Blanco
William Houston
Katinka Van Dyk
Each artist brings a distinct voice and style to the exhibit, offering a thoughtful mix of visual storytelling, technique, and creative perspective. We’re proud to represent artists whose work is not only visually compelling, but also grounded in intention, craft, and meaning.
While additional artists are featured throughout the Capitol as well, the majority of the work on view in these hallways is represented by Create Gallery and Frames.
Learn more about each artist and view available works through the QR code on site or via our website.
Why This Matters

For Create Gallery and Frames, being showcased at the Idaho State Capitol is a powerful reminder of why we built this space in the first place:
To connect people with artwork that moves them.
To support artists in meaningful ways.
And to help art live in the world... not just on gallery walls.
It’s an incredible opportunity to place Idaho-made artwork in front of a different audience and to show that fine art can live in the most unexpected spaces.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to share these works with a broader audience and to contribute to the cultural experience of Idaho during session.
