Nature’s Dialogue: A Duo Exhibition by Leo Bratenas & Fonny Davidson

Nature’s Dialogue duo exhibition featuring artists Leo Bratenas and Fonny Davidson at Create Gallery & Frames in Garden City, Idaho

This September, Create Gallery & Frames presents Nature’s Dialogue, a duo exhibition featuring longtime gallery artists Leo Bratenas and Fonny Davidson.

Bringing together two distinct artistic perspectives, the exhibition explores the natural world through landscape and botanical work, creating a conversation between expansive environments and the intricate details found within them.

Nature’s Dialogue will feature new works by both artists that have never before been shown at Create Gallery & Frames, offering visitors the opportunity to experience something entirely new from two familiar artists.

Two Artists, Two Perspectives

Nature has long provided artists with an endless source of inspiration, but what an artist chooses to notice can be just as important as the subject itself.

Leo Bratenas approaches the landscape with an eye for place, light, color, and atmosphere. His paintings capture the character of the Western landscape through open spaces, distant horizons, changing skies, and the subtle shifts in color that define a particular place and moment.

Rather than simply documenting a landscape, Bratenas interprets the experience of being within it. His work invites viewers to slow down, look farther, and take in the mood of the environment as a whole.

Fonny Davidson brings the viewer closer.

His botanical work focuses on the complexity and beauty found within individual forms in nature. Flowers become immersive subjects, allowing color, movement, texture, and intricate details to take center stage. By shifting the viewer’s sense of scale, familiar elements of nature become something worth examining again.

A Conversation Through Nature

The contrast between these two approaches is at the heart of Nature’s Dialogue.

Bratenas draws the eye outward toward landscapes and horizons, while Davidson draws it inward toward the details of the natural world. One considers nature on a broad scale, while the other explores what can be discovered when we look more closely.

Presented together, their work creates a visual conversation while maintaining each artist’s distinct point of view.

Nature can feel expansive or intimate, quiet or energetic, familiar or completely new depending on where we choose to focus our attention. Through their individual perspectives, Bratenas and Davidson offer two ways of experiencing the environments, forms, colors, and details that surround us.

New Work at Create Gallery & Frames

For visitors already familiar with the work of Bratenas and Davidson, Nature’s Dialogue offers something new.

The exhibition will include pieces that have never before been shown at Create Gallery & Frames. As longtime artists represented within the gallery, both have developed bodies of work that our visitors have come to recognize, making the arrival of new pieces especially exciting.

Bringing their work together for this duo exhibition also gives visitors an opportunity to experience each artist in a different context and discover connections between their work that may not be as apparent when viewed separately.
